What is link building?
It is the method employed to generate links back to your site. It is done by linking one site to another through forum signatures, article marketingand commenting on blogs.
One can also build links by getting site owners to link back to their sites through direct exchange. You can write to the owner of the site you want to exchange link with stating your purpose. If he so agrees then you add his URL address in your site or blog and he will do likewise.
Why is link building important?
Link building is important because it gets more people to see your site. They might be interested to click on your link while reading other people’s site that you linked with. Link building requires action, you have to exert extra effort to create massive back links to let the search engine and other people find your site.
To work on link building, it is taking a proactive approach on getting your site seen by visitors and search engines.
Link building is important to drive traffic to your site. It is important to note that “the best site in the world is meaningless if no one visits it”.
Google’s pagerank is also another factor you should look into. Even though that Google’s algorithms are kept secret, it has been observed that getting a link from a higher ranking site will improve the ranking of the site being linked to.
In link building, quality is important than quantity. Linking to many less quality sites is useless. Getting links from several high-quality sites does make a difference. The more quality sites linking to a page, the better!
